The Beginning

My motorcycle adventure started in the early eighties with a Yamaha XT250.

Medical Kit

On this post I will list and talk about the medical kit I’m putting together for the trip.  On my last post I had listed what I expect will be the equipment I will need for my trip and a few people on Facebook were shocked I had so much equipment.  The main concern is where would I put everything since as we all know, we have a limited amount of space on a motorcycle.  I also mentioned I would be posting about each of the groups on my list in more detail.  I hope my preparation and experience doing it will be useful to any future rider doing a long trip.
This medical kit is what I think I need and should not be taken as the perfect solution for everyone.  This should serve as a guideline only.  I hope none of this will ever be needed but better be safe than sorry as the saying goes.
I bought a Lifeline 85-Piece First Aid Kit at Dick’s Sporting Goods for $19.99 and it’s a pretty good start.  It wasn’t very well organized as you can see on the photo below.

Below is the list of items in the medical kit:
1 First Aid Guide
1 Scissors
1 Tweezers
2 Vinyl Gloves
1 Emergency Whistle
3 Sting Relief Pads
6 Antiseptic Towelettes
14 Alcohol Prep Pads
1 Triangular Bandage
1 5” x 9” Combine Dressing
20 3/8” x 1-1/2” Bandages
10 3/4” x 3” Bandages
10 Wound Closure Strips
1 Knuckle Bandage
2 Knee/Elbow Bandages
4 2” x 2” Sterile Gauze Pads
2 3” x 3” Sterile Gauze Pads
1 4” x 4” Sterile Gauze Pad
1 2” Conforming Gauze
1 1/2” Adhesive Tape Roll

I then added a few other items that were on my list:
  • Advil Pills
  • Bayer Aspirin Pills
  • Ibuprofen Pills
  • Aleve Pills
  • Stomach Relief Pills
  • Eye Drops
  • Lysol Disinfectant Spray
  • Small Sewing Kit

After a little organizing I ended up with everything in the small Lifeline 4x4x1 inch box.  The Progressive wipes and the Gold Bond will go in my toiletries box and the LifeStraw will be wrapped in a small rag and put at the bottom of the pannier to be used only in an emergency
